Tuition or a Life? Students can have Both!
Much has been said and written about the role of tuition in the life of a child. It is a topic that can prove controversial and will always lead to lively debate.
Whilst very popular overseas, the idea of academic tuition for primary school students was virtually unknown in Australia a generation ago. The widely held view was that children did not need to spend any time outside of school hours undertaking more study except for the occasional homework assignment. That view has changed dramatically in the past three decades as the world demands more of us all and especially our children.
It was thought that children would ‘lose their childhood’ if they were required to undertake further study. Children who did undertake further study were considered to be like ‘robots’; drained of joy and creativity by overbearing parents. It was easy for this myth to spread in a country that places high regard on recreational activity and ‘living for the weekend’.
However, the loss of childhood is a myth. In the 20 years I have been with North Shore I have seen students filled with vibrancy, joy and creativity. Observation of any classroom reveals a sea of happy faces engaged in learning.
In ensuring a child has a firm educational foundation, of which tutoring plays an important part, there is room for a myriad of cultural, sporting, spiritual and recreational activities. If anything I would propose that North Shore students are more successful in the arts and sport than the average student population.
Over recent years many of our students have competed at the state and national level in a variety of sports, performed as solo or ensemble performers at the Opera House, won numerous eisteddfod events, won national poetry competitions……….
and the list goes on.
Tuition is an integral part of a successful life – the misconception that students who attend coaching have no life, no outside interests is one that does not stack up to the evidence. We seek to offer beyond what your child’s school is offering. Not to compete with their school but to supplement their education.
You have the most important job ever entrusted to a human being: that of being a parent. Your desire to ensure your child has the strongest foundations for a successful and prosperous life is your ultimate task. Tuition is an important element in this preparation.
I am first and foremost an educator, committed to bettering the lives of children through quality educational experiences. To rob a child of their love of learning is anathema to me. I make no apology for the success North Shore has brought thousands of students across this great country. I am proud to be part of the North Shore Coaching College because quality tuition changes lives. It ensures your child a brighter future.
Providing an environment where children can learn, be inspired and learn to love learning is the goal to which the North Shore Coaching College aspires. We want our students to look back with fond memories of their time with us.
At North Shore we remain ever respectful of our obligation to you and your children. A brighter future awaits those who have a better life because of tuition.
