Preparation for Opportunity Class (OC) / Year 4 Holiday Success Program

Our course structure for each program:

  • Interactive Academic Learning
  • Between 1 hour and 55-minutes to 3 hour lessons per course, every day for 5 days. Please check our timetable for course running dates.

Robotics & Minecraft Coding

Give your child an unforgettable learning experience this school holiday! Join us for a week-long adventure that combines academic excellence with hands-on technology and exciting challenges.

Let your child immerse themselves in the world of robotics! Our Robot Engineers camp is perfect for Primary students, offering hands-on learning in coding, maths, physics, basic engineering, and problem-solving. Whether they’re new or returning, your child will build foundational skills that prepare them for future tech challenges.

Program Highlights:
Week 1

  • Robotics 1 (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM)
  • Minecraft Coding 1 (3:30 PM – 5:30 PM)

Week 2

  • Robotics 2 (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM)
  • Minecraft Coding 1 (3:30 PM – 5:30 PM)

Intensive English, Maths & Thinking Skills

Provide your child with an appropriate academic challenge through our Intensive English, Maths, Thinking Skills & Writing course. More advanced than the Progressive workshop completed during the earlier Holiday Program, this is the perfect course to continue the development of critical skills in preparation for the demands of the OC exam and Year 4. Ensure your child develops the skills and knowledge vital to making a successful academic school year.

Course Goals

  • Develop creative writing skills – narrative text type
  • Develop literal and inferential comprehension skills – close and short answer formats
  • Develop an advanced lexicon
  • Develop the skills of interpreting maps and weather reports
  • Extend knowledge of exam hints and tips
  • Extend knowledge of interpreting cube structures and advanced visual discrimination
  • Develop logic, problem solving and puzzle solving skills
  • Develop mathematical reasoning skills
  • Develop critical thinking skills
Advanced English, Maths & Thinking Skills

Ensure your child’s literacy and numeracy skills are ready to meet the expectations of the OC Exam and the challenges of the Year 4 curriculum. This program builds upon the foundation laid in the earlier weeks of the holiday course.

Effective Grammar & Written Expression Workshop

A comprehensive course of grammar, sentence structure and writing to ensure your child is well equipped for the demands of the English curriculum for the start of the school year.

Course Goals

Among the outcomes:

  • Develop advanced understandings of nouns – common, proper, collective and abstract
  • Develop advanced understandings of adjectives, adverbs, pronouns and verbs
  • Develop punctuation and advanced grammar
  • Develop knowledge of prepositions, articles, superlatives and comparisons
  • Develop writing skills in the text types of book review, descriptions, directions, narrative and poetry
Effective Reading & Comprehension Skills

Learn effective reading and comprehension skills through a variety of tasks which will also improve your writing skills, reading & comprehension skills, grammar skills, vocabulary skills & usage and spelling skills.

Art and Craft Workshop

Inspire your budding artist with our engaging program of art and craft. Students engage in art and craft activities designed to bring out their creativity as they experiment with shape, colour and form. All materials included.

Course Goals

Among the outcomes:

  • Develop skills in the manipulation of various media
  • Develop knowledge of colour theory, shadow and light
  • Develop fine motor skills
  • Develop artistic knowledge of shape, form and perspective
Debate & Public Speaking Workshop

Develop your confidence to be a better public speaker. Topics discussed include:

  • How to overcome fears associated with public speaking
