Year 6 High Achiever Program

Core Program

The High Achiever Program is by invitation only based on results attained in the High Achiever Entrance Exam.

This advanced course is reserved for the highest achieving Year 6 students and contains additional teaching/learning materials to those offered in the Year 6 Fastrain Extended Program. Subjects include Writing, English, Mathematics and Thinking Skills/General Ability. Students will experience the development of literacy and numeracy skills necessary for greater confidence and success at school and major external exams. Each lesson contains 30 minutes dedicated to writing skills followed by three and a half hours of literacy and numeracy. Thousands of students have studied in our programs, and we are proud to assist and support many students to achieve success in the Selective Schools Placement Test, private school entry and scholarships.

Term 1 is the final opportunity to prepare for Selective Schools & Scholarship exams!

  • Provide a full range of academic experiences improving chances of success in the Opportunity Class (OC) Exam
  • Develop advanced literal and inferential comprehensions skills
  • Develop problem solving skills
  • Develop competency and creativity in writing across a range of text types
  • Develop superior spelling skills
  • Develop an advanced vocabulary
  • Develop grammar, usage and punctuation skills
  • Develop advanced knowledge of numbers in thousands and beyond
  • Develop numerical operations
  • Develop understandings of fractions and decimals
  • Develop a range of thinking skills (general ability) concepts
  • Develop concepts of area, time and measurement using formal and informal units
  • Develop concepts of graphing, money, chance and probability
  • Develop concepts of shape, position and temperature
  • Develop exam techniques
Course Structure
  • 4 terms in a year, 10 weeks in a term
  • 4 hour lessons per week, during term
  • Students attend lessons at their allocated time schedule
  • Small class group based. Entry by invitation only based on results attained in the High Achiever Entrance Exam
