Exam Preparation Course

The Selective High Exam (SHE) course is tailored to prepare Year 7 and 8 students to proficiently and confidently undertake the Selective High entrance exam. Normally held in June each year. The selective high schools in Victoria are:

  • Melbourne High School (boys only), in South Yarra;
  • The Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School (girls only), in Melbourne;
  • Nossal High School (boys and girls) in Berwick; and
  • Suzanne Cory High School (boys and girls) in Werribee.

The course is only held in Terms 1 and 2 for Year 8 students and in Terms 3 and 4 for Years 7 students. The goal of the course is to familiarise students with the exam format and content of different styles of questions commonly offered in the SHE test. We highly recommend students to undertake Year 7 Fastcoach for Term 1 & 2 as pathway to achieving maximum results.

  • Develop numerical reasoning skills
  • Develop advanced literal and inferential comprehensions skills
  • Develop problem solving skills
  • Develop competency and creativity in writing across a range of text types
  • Develop an advanced vocabulary, grammar, usage and punctuation skills
  • Develop exam techniques and exam confidence
Course Structure
  • 4 hour lessons per week
  • 10 week intensive program over 2 terms
  • Weekly tests conducted with teaching and explanation
  • Small class group based
  • Experienced educators
  • Students attend lessons once a week at their allocated time schedule
  • Available in Terms 1 and 2 for Year 8 students
  • Available in Terms 3 and 4 for Year 7 students
